To Add.. It takes ...
To Add.. It takes about 17 to 24 months for the pineapple to produce from start to finish.. then the ones they you eat cut? those tops off and start over with more.. self generating.. Annual Food and they are ready in AUG> Very delicious.

You should try ...
You should try Pineapples. Call Publix Produce Dept, ask them to save the tops for you... With the tops cut off, soak the bottoms of the tops for a couple of months till? the rest of the fruit rots off. they will start to grow shoots.. then plant in potting soil.. then about 4 months later plop them in the ground and water occasionally. I have a 100 plants and they produce about 20 a year. plenty for me and they grow great in Florida. Looks like Ft Myers or Cape Coral.

ha! your yard ...
ha! your yard looks like mine with all the edible plants/fruits? everywhere!

@ ...
@SustenanceNCovering Never heard? of that before. Interesting.

I never get fruit ...
I never get fruit from any of my banana tree. I live in zone 8. Every year we cut down our bananas before the frost kills them. You can cut the soft core out of the tree slice it up and fry it in a batter.? We love it. And the trees come back in the spring like nothing is wrong.
